Mix and taste test
If your going to be regularly drinking these then the taste is an important factor that should not be over looked. Gone are the days of fowl tasting shakes. Now we have lot’s of options and flavours and with the right protein you might just look forward to your shake!
Myprotein always do a good job with there choice of flavours and the impact whey isolate is no exception. There’s a huge list of flavours to choose from. For this review we will be looking at chocolate smooth.
After digging inside the pouch I managed to find the provided scoop buried deep! I mixed 1 scoop with 200 ml’s of water in my shaker cup and gave it a good old shake. The powder mixed great, creating a nice smooth shake.
My first initial reaction to tasting was that it was quite sweet, as to be expected with protein shakes but it did carry a nice chocolate flavour. It went down well and I quite enjoyed the taste after getting used to the initial sweetness.
How can it help you?
This protein shake is 90% protein. It’s one of the lowest carb protein shakes on the market and still packs a big 23 g of protein per serving. If your running a low carb high protein diet this shakes going to be a brilliant boost.
Protein shakes are used to help aid the recovery process of the muscles after intense workouts. The time your muscles grow is while you recover outside the gym. It’s important to make sure you have enough protein each day to get the best results. One of the most important times to fuel your body with protein is directly after a workout. Using a quick easy to prepare protein shake like this is the perfect way to provide your body with the extra kick of protein it needs to get the best results.
How long will it last?
Myprotein currently stock this protein in 2 sizes. Each are great value for money when compared to other brands.
One serving is 25g and you can choose between a 1kg or 2.5kg pouch.
In the 1kg pouch you get 40 servings and with the 2.5kg pouch you get an impressive 100 servings.
This means if you buy the 2.5kg pouch for £41 each serving is going to cost you around 40p. That’s the best value I know for a high quality protein!
Other great uses
With a little creativity this protein can be used for more than just shakes! Add it to recipes such as my Healthy cakes for an extra kick of protein. You can even mix it with greek yogurt to create a high protein sweet desert.
